What is the price for VCT floor strip and wax?

So you are looking for the price to get your VCT floor stripped and waxed. Here in the Southern Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky area, you can expect to spend normally 0.56 to 1.00 per square foot.

What would affect the price?

Some things that would make the price go up or down are the condition of the floor, such as how much wax is on the floor, how small the area is, and how big the area is.

What is the process?

So the process to strip and wax a VCT floor is to apply floor stripper, scrub it, rinse it, and apply floor finish. I made it sound so easy, didn't I? You have to wait sometimes 15 to 20 minutes for the floor finish to emulsify, then scrub it. Sometimes you have to repeat the process to get all the floor finish off the floor. Then you have to rinse it two or three times. Then mop it very well with a clean mop. You are trying to get up all the floor stripper that you put down. You also have to scrape the edges because a floor scrubber will not get all the way to the edge normally. So you have to scrape the edges by hand. You can use a scrubbing pad, but it will take way longer to remove all the wax along the edge and corners. Then you have to apply floor finish, which a lot of people call wax. That will take about 45 minutes between coats, give or take. Oh boy, and if there is floor sealer on the floor, get ready, because floor sealer does not like to come off the floor very easily.

You won't know if you got floor sealer on the floor normally unless you know what the last person did to that floor. We have seen a floor go from thinking it will take a couple of hours to taking a whole 12-hour day.

There are so many variables why the price can go up and down. That's why I can only give you a general idea of the price for VCT floor strip and wax.

Are all the companies going to scrape the edges thoroughly? You don't want to hire a cheaper company and then find your floors don't look much better than when you started. Always make sure each company is offering the same results at the end of the job.
